Everyone’s liking, tweeting and posting about the online revolution called Social Media and how it’s changing the online arena.

However with all new toys many are struggling to understand where Social Media sits in the marketing mix.

A new study has revealed that Social Media acts very similar to traditional media like display ads & radio.


It’s important to understand that unlike Google search, Social Media acts as an influencer and not a driver of sales.

With this said, Social Media allows for communication to flow between consumers and business.


Creating a great feedback and research loop opportunity for businesses to pitch ideas, concepts and receive direct feedback and suggestions from existing & potential customers.

While each business will have a preference when it comes to which Social Media platform they use, linkedin and twitter are heavily used for business to business marketing, while facebook tends to provide great access to the consumer market.

Whether you’re using twitter, facebook or linkedin to influence sales, create new relationships or gather feedback, it’s vital that all communications fit in with your brand, story, positioning and tone of voice.


Social Media is not about technology, it’s about your story and delivering it in bite size chunks that engage, stimulate and influence your target audience. Every business has a path, journey and purpose. Make sure your story is relevant to your audience capturing their attention and hopefully imagination.
